A story from the distant 2005*…
After Orlin from “Caving” Speleo Club shares fresh impressions of descent on the gorge of Kresna on June 5, he was able to quickly gather another team. With two cars in Saturday evening we come on Kresna Inn (which we honored with a tripe soup, but probably should not do that) George, Orlin, and Lucho (club “Caving”), Didi, Me, Ducata, Gesha and Iskra (Club Sofia) and Zizi (course club Iskar).
In the evening we unite(warmed) around the fire and salads and Chachi – our guide told us a few stories. From all rivers around Bulgaria, the Struma in the area of Kresna Gorge gives all for perfect rafting. For that reason, that is the most popular and maintain the place for White water extreme clubs.
In the morning, I wake up at 7 found Chachi to pump a huge raft that gathers all us together. Help him with pumping I wake up fully and with Didi rushed to Kresna Inn for coffee. After the third we go back and saw that all are ready, dressed and loaded into the van. “Why late, he burns…” angrily snapped Chachi and Didi buckled legs – “??? How ???
However, all arrived at the point of departure. Dressed and ready we listened to the lecture and instructions and enter into the water. The river was big, angry and fast, in wide places and wild, very angry and more quickly on rapids.
Before serious rafting, we jump in the water with Lucho and Orlin and made a circle around the boat.
Boat with six paddlers (2 persons were without oars) flying on the waves. Stable and skillfully run, gave us confidence and security in the biggest waves and treacherous currents reverse.
So we were able to fully enjoy the river, nature and feel that gives rafting in rapids. With the exception of 500-700 meters launched along the entire Gorge – from the beginning to the camp shortly before the end.
Before we left to Sofia, we walk to canyon up close, swim and enjoyed the warm sun. As much as we want to repeat soon, we will have to wait for the “big water” next spring.
Special thanks to Chachin and X Club for adventure.
