Catalog maps of US Army

Posted on Posted in Google maps, Print maps

I recently discovered an interesting file. Shows available maps in the archives of the University of Texas at scale 1:250,000 and 1:1M in the world used by the US Army during the second half of the 20th century. Drawn in the ’50s, no one can say that they are accurate or correct for now. Many roads have been changed, some city names are changed, but still remain a interesting historical documents.

(if you do not want to leave the page open maps with right click – open in new tab)

The maps in scale 1: 1 million are of more coverage and a very nice presentation of altitude division by Isohipses 0, 100, 200 and up through 200 meters.
