Corine is the European program for land cover GIS. Divided into 5 departments – 1.xx Anthropogenic sites, 2.xx Agricultural lands, 3.xx Forests and semi-natural areas, 4.xx Wetlands and 5.xx Water bodies with 44 subdivisions and covering the entire territory of Europe to Ukraine, Belarus and the Russian Federation, with only Kosovo and Switzerland absent in the file.
And land cover is important for every map – from the tourist map to the urban plan. But inserting the entire database of Europe to visualize a city park or province in Bulgaria is an unnecessary and difficult process for the computer, considering that some files are 200-300 MB or more. And since 90% of my work is focused on the country, and my hard drive is limited, I’ve cropped all Corine files within borders that allow visualization across the country or detailed border areas. So the biggest file has become about 50 MB, in this case – this representing deciduous forest. Moreover, out of the 44th sub-section, 8 are not represented in Bulgaria, and some (11) are negligible even on a European scale. This leaves 25 files:
Have a nice download and hopefully they are useful to you
