Starosel and Koprivshtitca – VeloRhodope 2014 day 7

Problem, when choose campsite tired is that you pick first acceptable place. On morning I see that on a hundred meters from my camp is a first of temples in Starosel. With nice parking, chapel and place for tent. I really recommend. But first in the morning I go big tomb, left my bike next to postcard and souvenirs kiosk.


That is one of most famous Thracian site and I regret that I have not visited until now. It’s impressive. I spend half hour inside and maybe half outside, until start feel nervy about not locked bike. On way back to Starosel I stop on second temple.

From Starosel road has nice and maybe little boring, until a few kilometers before Strelcha come first storm in my trip. I see clouds and rain earlier and stop to prepare. I undress my shirt and pants and continued to cycle with rain jacket and bike leggings. Big worries in rain has about cars in this narrow winding road. Like most summer storm and this continued  not more that 10 minutes and finish in same time that I arrive on entrance of the Strelcha town. I put on me dry pants and decide to enjoy on fresh after-storm sky and rainbow, so stop on first shop in town and get beer.
In general I expect more from this town, but also I not spend time to explored. And after one beer I start biking again, knowing that hard part of the day start. Between Strelcha and Koprivshtica has mountain range that road climb. It’s 630 m up only for 10 km., but is not so scary as seems. Still a need 2 hours and 2 short stops to rich top. From here has nice slide down 🙂 with impressive views.

When arrive in Koprivshtica town, first I go to center to search Touristic Information center. Has closed, but next to him have a board with hotels and sightseeing, so I find tourist dormitory and go there. Luckily or not I been only person in hostel, and lady give me keys from whole building and go home. I take shower and go to find restaurant and wi-fi spot to finish a day…
